Author: LAPF Investments | Published: July 20, 2026
Leicestershire County Council Pension Fund has formally launched its search for someone to fill its Independent Person role.
It’s seeking an experienced individual to fulfil the role, providing expert investment, governance and administration advice to support the Local Pension Committee. This is a role that’ll support the fund as it responds to national LGPS governance reforms and continues to strengthen decision-making, oversight and accountability.
Whoever takes on the role will work closely with the Local Pension Committee, providing insight and informed challenge helping the Committee test and understand the information and advice they receive.
Individuals applying for the role must have qualifications from the Pensions Management Institute and is a member of – and accredited by – the Association of Professional Pension Trustees.
This should be supported by more than five years’ of pensions experience – with experience of working with the Local Government Pension Scheme or Defined Benefit schemes would be beneficial.
Applications must be received by 20 August, although the fund reserves the right to close applications earlier should sufficient applications be received.
