Cumbria launches Investment Strategy Statement consultation

Cumbria has launched a consultation on its draft Investment Strategy Statement and revised Responsible Investing policy.

The survey is seeking views of Cumbria Pension Fund members on the Investment Strategy Statement – which sets out how the pension fund invests its money, and its Responsible Investment policy that governs its approach to Responsible Investment and stewardship.

This includes details of the fund’s investment objectives and beliefs, its risk and return tolerances, its strategic asset allocation, and its local investment and its responsible investment policies.

Among its key objectives is to invest within the range of zero to one percent of its total assets under management in local investments, expected to be achieved over a six-to-eight-year period.

Others include to have – for the 2025 valuation – a modelled expected long-term return that exceeds the discount rate of 2.75% per annum above CPI inflation (past service) and 2.25% per annum above CPI inflation (future service), on both a best estimate (50%/50%) and more prudent (65%) basis over the long term.

It’s also aiming to have a modelled three-year 95% funding level value-at-risk relative to the asset value limited to less than 33% (on the past service discount rate basis).

Feedback to the consultation closes on Friday 14 August.
