John Dewey has taken on the role of chief investment officer (CIO) at Northern LGPS, as the pool continues to expand its executive team.
It follows the appointment of Elizabeth Renshaw-Ames and Paras Anand as chair and chief executive of the pool back in April.
Dewey moves into the role from Northern LGPS partner fund the West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF), where he was CIO since April last year.
Commenting on his appointment on social media, Dewey said: “Northern LGPS starts from a position of strength: a deep tradition of internal management, a mature private markets capability, leadership in housing and natural capital, and a longstanding commitment to local investment that delivers for the communities we serve.
“I will bring passion, purpose and ambition to building on these foundations.
“A heartfelt thank you to the team and stakeholders and WYPF. It has been a privilege to work alongside such a talented, dedicated and principled group of people. WYPF’s assets and members’ interests remain in the very safest of hands.
“I am looking forward to working with colleagues at Northern LGPS and across our three partner funds, and with peers across the LGPS and the wider institutional investment community as we build something ambitious.”
The pool has also brought in Sera Sadrettin and and Lorraine Solway as the pool’s chief financial and operations officer, and chief risk officer.
Sadrettin will head up the pool’s finance and operations functions, and brings with her a expertise in private markets, having held finance and operations leadership roles at Fidelity International and M&G.
Solway, meanwhile, joins from Octopus Money where she held the same role, and has also served as CRO for Virgin Money and NEST.
Commenting on all three of the appointments, Northern LGPS chief executive Paras Anand said: “The calibre of the individuals joining us speaks to the strength of what the Northern LGPS Pool has build over the last decade and the ambition we have for its future.
“We have brought together the right blend of investment expertise, governance and institutional knowledge to support the Pool as we navigate the regulatory transition. I am confident that this leadership team will deliver for our members, our regional partner funds and the communities that we serve.”
