Isle of Wight Council has said it supports an “in principle” decision is made to join LGPS Central, with this decision being confirmed to central government.

It follows a wider council meeting held last week.

The council has also agreed to give authority to the S151 officer – in consultation with the chairman of the pension committee – to take any action they consider necessary to progress the investment pooling work and reduce the risks the fund may face.

This includes being given authority to enter a memorandum of understanding with LGPS Central.

Last month the council had voted against “specific recommendations” concerning the fund’s future investment pooling arrangements.
