Barnett Waddingham reappointed to Kent Pension Fund for the next six years

Barnett Waddingham (BW) has been reappointed to deliver actuarial, benefits and governance consultancy services to the Kent Pension Fund.

BW, a leading independent professional services consultancy, has secured a further six-year contract with the fund, which is operated by Kent County Council, cementing a 14-year partnership which started in 2009.

The Kent Pension Fund has over 450 participating employers, resulting in over 150,000 members and a value of £8.1 billion. BW’s Public Sector Team, which looks after 25% of LGPS funds across the UK, was chosen following a competitive selection and tendering process.

Barnett Waddingham Partner and Head of Public Sector, Graeme Muir, said: “We are very happy to have been re-appointed by the Kent Pension Fund. I have personally worked with Kent for most of my actuarial career, and we have built a unique relationship.

“The fund has grown and evolved over the years but what remains is BW’s commitment to its guiding principles – to always do the right thing by its clients. Kent Pension Fund can be certain of that promise as we start the next part of the journey.”

Nick Buckland, Head of the Kent Pension Fund, said “We are delighted to be continuing to work with Barnett Waddingham having built up a strong working relationship with Graeme, Roisin and their team over the years. Barnett Waddingham’s appointment comes at the end of an extensive procurement process, and I would like to thank the team for the hard work to ensure that the Fund has this key appointment secured.”

In addition to LGPS funds, Barnett Waddingham also provides services to Police Authorities, Fire and Rescue Services, NHS Trust Funds and various employers who participate in public sector schemes, such as the Principal Civil Service Scheme.

BW advises on risk, pensions, investment, insurance, and employee benefit services. The consultancy acts as a trusted partner for a wide range of clients in both the private and public sectors – this includes 25% of FTSE 100 and over 15% of FTSE 350 companies.

BW is free from any external stakeholders, allowing it to take a long-term view with all clients and the freedom to bring fresh ideas to the table.
