East Riding pledges to combat pension scammers

The East Riding Pension Fund (ERPF) has taken the pledge to combat pension scams which will protect member benefits.

This involves the ERPF self-certifying to the Pensions Regulator by way of confirmation that it meets the standards of the pledge.

The pledge includes commitments to raise awareness, educate and protect pension savers, including:

  • Regularly warning members about pension scams
  • Encouraging members asking for cash drawdown to get impartial guidance from Pension Wise
  • Understanding the warning signs of a scam and the best practice for transfers by completing the scams module in the Trustee Toolkit (while encouraging all relevant staff or trustees to do the same)
  • Studying and using the resources on the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) ScamSmart website, the ERPF scams information and the Pension Scams Industry Group (PSIG) code
  • Considering membership of the Pension Scams Industry Forum by contacting PSIG
  • Reporting concerns about a scam to the authorities and communicating this to the scheme member
