South Yorkshire annual report records £350m climate commitment
Published: October 28, 2025
A £350m commitment to Border to Coast’s Climate Opportunities Fund is just one of the key milestones recorded by South Yorkshire as it publishes its annual report for 2024/25.
In addition to this, the pensions authority directed a further £175m towards renewables and natural capital investment.
The fund also launched two new £20m funds designed to support SMEs across the region, appointed Northern Trust as custodians of its £11bn investment assets, and received formal recognition of good stewardship practices by being a signatory of the UK Stewardship Code.
Councillor Donna Sutton, chair of the South Yorkshire Pensions Authority, said: “The 2024/25 Annual Report reflects the incredible work of our dedicated team in delivering value for members, employers, and the wider South Yorkshire region.
“From our ambitious climate commitments to our award-winning local investment strategies, SYPA is demonstrating leadership both nationally and locally. As we look to the future, we remain focused on providing excellent service for our members while investing responsibly for the long term.”
